Originally published in Italian in 1996 and included in Categorie italiane: Studi di poetica, The End of the Poem (La fine del poema) was later translated into English and appeared in the collection The End of the Poem: Studies in Poetics (1999). In this essay, Agamben links poetry to historical and metaphysical questions, revealing how language itself operates at the limits of meaning and positioning poetry as a space where thought confronts its own failure. Agamben’s own work defies systematization and hence I will here take the cue and not offer a comprehensive view of his entire philosophy of language (which would at least require a book-study). Instead, I will take this essay as a point of departure and discuss what it thinks the poetic act and poetry as a genre. https://medium.com/@akineo/agambens-la-fine-del-poema-64202638a8d4blackteadarkmatter
