Kaan Kansu Toprak is an independent researcher, Turkish folk music artist, writer, scientist, cultural carrier of the Turkish âşık (minstrel) tradition, poet, composer, and performer.

His works build a bridge between the Turkish folk music tradition and contemporary musical expression. In his poems and musical works written in the traditional style, he sometimes uses the pen name Aşkuzâr and sometimes Aşkuzâr Serâbî to emphasize his cultural identity, while also incorporating original and alternative approaches into his works.
