Revision Notes
after an extensive amount of research (and it hasn't been easy!) I did find https://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/webbin/book/lookupname?key=Andr%26eacute%3B%2C%20R.%20%28Richard%29%2C%201834-1907 https://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/101717554?type%5B%5D=author&lookfor%5B%5D=%22Andr%C3%A9%2C%20R.%22&ft= https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=uiug.30112041561736 https://franklin.library.upenn.edu/catalog/FRANKLIN_9930976793503681 https://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/webbin/book/lookupname?key=Andr%26eacute%3B%2C%20R.%20%28Richard%29%2C%201834-1907 there also is some arbitrary link to work by R. Andre on the IA: https://archive.org/details/magicring00andr/page/n3/mode/2up what coincides with data from the other links However! I'm not entirely convinced that Richard André the vaudeville playwright (in 1887) is the same person as Richard André the children's book illustrator (active 1834-1907) the latter is also decidedly American, but Beeton's Christmas Annual (of-which the work was published first) is decidedly British.
